What are some possible means of modifying the T-PESS rubric to fit the job description of campus administrators other than the campus principal?
The following are possible means by which a district could modify the T-PESS rubric or its use.
- The T-PESS rubric could be used for self-assessment purposes (only) to familiarize assistant principals with the rubric and the performance expectations of the role of the principal while continuing to use the district’s current instrument for assistant principal evaluation. Assistant principals could set performance growth goals using the Standards and Indicators within the T-PESS rubric.
- The performance level entitled “Developing” on T-PESS rubric could be used exclusively to assess assistant principal performance. Entry level preparation for the role of principal is captured within the descriptors of Developing performance level.
- The T-PESS rubric could be modified to reflect development and job related appropriateness for assistant principals. Actual modification of the T-PESS rubric would be a significant undertaking for any district.
